Fantastic Response For GITEX 2003

Record number of pre-registered visitors

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced that the response for GITEX 2003 has exceeded all previous expectations, with the number of trade visitors pre-registering for the region's benchmark IT show numbering 11,673 in exactly one month since online registrations commenced on September 6th.

"We are pleased with the tremendous interest the show has already generated from trade professionals," said DWTC General Manager, Exhibitions, Leasing and Property, Abdulla T. Qassem. "GITEX 2003, which has already set new records in number of participants, countries and gross floor space, is now poised to achieve new highs as the show grows in size, scale and scope to create a more global impact. This increasing interest is an indication that we are proceeding on the right track," added Mr. Qassem.

The online computerized pre-registration process is designed to ease overcrowding at registration desks during the show and enables effective monitoring of the interest the event is generating among IT professionals throughout the region. Pre-registration enables a fast-track entry for trade visitors to the exhibition and eliminates the need for long queues.

GITEX over the years has evolved into the perfect business and technological platform for the IT industry making it an important event for stimulating regional and international trade.

Pre-registration is limited to trade professionals only. College and university students who wish to visit the exhibition must show valid identification and pay the applicable fees offline.

Online registration at GITEX is the norm and roughly 8,000 trade visitors pre-registered through the online service in 2002. Last year's edition attracted more than 65,000 visitors in total.

GITEX Dubai is the region's premier IT exhibition, and this year it is expected to feature the participation of more than 1,600 companies representing more than 37 countries. With a solid mix of local, regional and international IT product and service providers, the exhibition also serves as the key launch pad for new technologies and product launches in the region.

Meanwhile, the exhibition's retail component, GITEX Computer Shopper that takes place at Airport Expo Dubai from 18th to 24th October features super deals on a wide selection of computer hardware, software, peripherals, telecommunication products and multi-media options.
