EMS Technologies Announces the Production of the 200th HSD-128 Swift64 High-Speed Data Transceiver

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 7, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today at the National Business Aviation Association's (NBAA) Annual Meeting & Convention, that the HSD-128 production quantity has now exceeded 200 units.

The HSD-128 was first introduced in November of 2001 and has now exceeded the production of 200 dual channel units. The HSD-128 provides aeronautical users the ability to connect at bi-directional data speeds of 128KBPS worldwide using the INMARSAT Swift64 satellite data service.

The EMS HSD-128 system has been installed and approved on most models of Gulfstream aircraft, and on the Bombardier Challenger, GEX, Boeing BBJ, B-757, B-767, B-707, and Dassault Falcon 50, 900 and 2000. The installed base has recently been extended to include large helicopters as well.

"The HSD-128 installed base continues to diversify and broaden as the user community identifies mobile data applications that benefit from this level of connectivity. We find we are providing a viable data backbone for mobile applications to military and corporate customers alike," said Dr. Neil MacKay, senior vice president and general manager of EMS Technologies SATCOM Division.

The HSD-128 is compatible with all ARINC 741 Aero-H/H+ Satcom antennas, and is well matched with the EMS Technologies AMT-50 antenna. The HSD-128 uses industry-standard networking protocols and interfaces and is easily integrated into the aircraft LAN, providing a fast, global, voice and data link.
