EMS Technologies Introduces the PDT-100 Application Partner Program

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Oct. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today at the American Trucking Association (ATA) Management Conference and Exhibition 2003, the introduction of the PDT-100 Application Partner Program, designed to support companies that develop communications applications for the satellite communications market, based on EMS's PDT-100.

The program provides tools and support for developing, verifying and promoting a comprehensive range of third-party applications that complement EMS's products. The benefits of the PDT-100 Application Partner Program include certification, access to Software Development Kits (SDK) and development tools, satellite network simulation software, PDT-100 hardware, technical engineering assistance, discounted lab platforms, and airtime tools.

The PDT-100, or Packet Data Terminal, provides fail-safe two-way messaging and location information virtually anywhere in North and Central America. Using the MSAT satellite system, the PDT-100 offers customers and value-added resellers the opportunity to provide continent-wide applications and communications solutions for the mobile user. The terminal is in high demand in the trucking industry and the military segment, and in increasing demand in the remote sensing and law-enforcement markets.

There are currently some 23 commercially launched applications operating in conjunction with the PDT-100. These range from simple AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location), which provides accurate GPS location to within 90 feet, to integrated business management systems, which enable two-way messaging and data gathering from mobile platforms. Whether it is a truck or a HUMVEE, the PDT-100 offers the best value in satellite communications. This value has been recognized by the industry as both large and small trucking fleets have adopted the technology to help improve their bottom lines and operational efficiency.
