Vattenfall chooses Song Networks for its data communications

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 21, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Song Networks Holding AB's (Other OTC:SONWF) (Stockholmsborsen:SONW) announces today that Song Networks Svenska AB has entered into an agreement with Vattenfall Data AB for the supply of data communication that will initially link Vattenfall's work centres at 13 locations around Sweden. The agreement extends over 3 years and has a value for Song Networks of approximately SEK 12 million.

Vattenfall Data AB, which is responsible for the Vattenfall Group's data communications in the Nordic region, has chosen an Ethernet VPN solution from Song Networks to link up 13 work centres in a new, uniform communications solution. This includes the Barseback and Ringhals production units.

"Using Song's solution, we are improving our nationwide network to which we are connecting our work centres," says Bertil Blomberg, WAN Product Manager at Vattenfall Data AB. "Following a technical and economic evaluation, we opted for Song, which was best able to satisfy our requirements for functionality, accessibility, capacity and flexibility. The network will be a Fully Meshed type, where everyone communicates with the network independently of each other, and it will be able to transport both telephony and data traffic. We are connecting 13 centres to the network in the first instance, with more being connected as the need for capacity grows."

Vattenfall's data centre in Racksta is being connected with a redundant 100 Mbit/s connection, and the remaining units with redundant 20 Mbit/s connections. The solution will initially cover locations in Sweden, and it may be extended with connections to the rest of the Nordic region. The solution is part of Vattenfall's group-wide IP network, which covers all the countries in which Vattenfall has operations.

Song Networks Svenska AB is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Song Networks Holding AB.
