Before I Forget - New Book Recounts Last 100 Years of Author's Family History

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif., Oct. 27, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Donna West has no need for daytime soap operas. Her life is dramatic enough. In her new book, Before I Forget (now available through 1stBooks), she recounts nearly a century's worth of family history for her descendants and the world to enjoy.

West tells her family's history through wit, humor and tears. Beginning with her introduction to the world on a blustery March day in 1925, West details her childhood, adulthood and her elderly years. She takes readers from her meager beginnings to her first love and marriage.

She devotes much of the book to her daughter's romantic problems. Her daughter, Sheri, married young to a man referred to by West as "Skinny." Before 20, her daughter was married, had a child and was living far away. The young couple struggles through their lives. By the time Sheri gets on her feet, her son, Austin, is already 18. She divorces her husband and opens her own business. Her growing wealth, however, doesn't quell her daughter's unhappiness.

West also discusses different individuals in her family and their battles with drugs, infidelity and bad decisions. With more drama than the Young and the Restless, Before I Forget is a family history preserved for future generations to cherish.

"Librarians call Before I Forget amazing. Reviewers want to see it made into a movie. Young people are intrigued and ask 'Is this lady still alive?'" she says.

West lives in Desert Hot Springs, Calif. Before I Forget is her first book.
