Your Journey Into Joy - New Book Offers Path to Joy Through the Bible

ROSCOMMON, Mich., Oct. 30, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Bible is more than just a book; it is a way of living. Christian faiths believe the Bible is a guide to living life as God desires, but sometimes, people become mired in the passive practice of religion rather than taking it to heart. In his new book, Your Journey Into Joy: Fourteen Walks into the Land of Joy (now available through 1stBooks), Donald Charles Mainprize shows readers how to live by the word of God and find joy even in suffering.

Your Journey into Joy highlights several different aspects of the "joy spectrum" that Mainprize has discovered during his many years researching the Scriptures. He takes readers on 14 short walks, exploring the "roadways to positive Godly living." He highlights the "river of rejoicing" that flows through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, through all 1,225 verses, and presents the release of joy by the witness of the Holy Spirit.

"Though not a 'verse by worse' study of the 1,225 references, you will dip into what I call 'The River of Rejoicing.' Journey does not, however, endorse the 'Easy Believisim' or 'Easy Grace' view of Christian living," Mainprize says.

Your Journey into Joy tackles the principle question "Is the life of joy the heritage of every believer?" Mainprize believes it takes total commitment to experience the joy promised in the Bible, but that doesn't mean it isn't attainable. Through his book, readers will find the paths toward happiness and the joy of the Holy Spirit.

"By exposing the joy spectrum of 7 key words including - joy, rejoice, enjoy, gladness, happiness, delight and blessed - we discover they wind their way through the Bible like a highway from Genesis to Revelation and lead directly to the Holy Spirit," he says.

Joy is waiting for every believer and Mainprize has the map, which he shares with readers in Your Journey into Joy.

Born in Coleman, Mich. and raised on tenant farms in central Michigan, Mainprize has a vast array of education and has spent years researching the Bible. He has written a number of articles that have been published in national Christian and education magazines and journals. He has written numerous other books, including Christian Heroes of Today, Enjoy the Christian Life and Stonesville, U.S.A.
