Innovative Vehicle Technology -- Haldex selected as disc brake supplier

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Haldex has been selected to supply air disc brakes for Volvo and Renault medium range trucks. The 5-year contract is valued at more than 200 MSEK with initial deliveries scheduled to start in 2006.

The partnership with the Volvo Group is a break-through for Haldex development of air disc brakes for heavy vehicles. The ongoing supply of disc brakes to heavy trailers will now be expanded to truck applications.

The award of the disc brake business further extends the existing long business relationship between Haldex and the Volvo Group worldwide, including Renault and Mack, in several other brake system products, as well as in other Haldex activities such as hydraulic power systems and engine valve springs.

The disc brake business confirms the industry's interest in the modular design of the Haldex ModulX air disc brake and shows the Volvo Group's intention to offer the latest in new products development.

Haldex was earlier this year awarded a disc brake contract by Renault for heavy duty army vehicles.

All disc brakes will be manufactured at Haldex Landskrona plant in southern Sweden.

The Haldex group (www.haldex.com), with headquarters in Stockholm, is a provider of proprietary and innovative solutions to the global vehicle industry, with emphasis on products related to vehicle dynamics, safety and environmental issues. Haldex is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and has annual sales of 6.5 billion SEK with 4,000 employees.
