Light the Fire Within You - New Book Tells How to Rise from Depression to Light the Way Forward

HAMPSHIRE, England, Nov. 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Building on real life experiences, a new book aims to help people overcome setbacks in their lives by leading by example. Light the Fire Within You (now available through 1stBooks) chronicles Peter Tapsell's victory in recovering from alcoholism and doubt by persisting with a regiment of personal development, fitness and helping others help themselves.

"We all have dreams and constantly crave for a better life. But even though we know what it is we want, few of us ever have the courage to pursue it. We don't know how," the author, Tapsell, says.

A native of Gosport, England, Tapsell left home on his 15th birthday and joined the British Army. With exemplary service, he rose through the ranks and was selected for a commission. He served two periods of his career on active duty, first in Malaya and then in Northern Ireland during the turbulent 1980s. During this time he was a successful shooting coach and trainer. However, he also was sinking deeper into the bottle. Afflicted with a dark struggle against alcoholism, Tapsell began having thoughts of suicide before rising up to defeat his disease.

"I have a wide range of experiences that many may find hard to believe ... In (Light the Fire Within You) ... I've shown how to turn all these negatives into something positive. Having won my fight, I want to help others overcome similar obstacles. The book is therefore aimed at those suffering from depression or simply have challenges with issues in their past," he says.

From sinking into alcoholism and nearly giving up on life to returning back to reality a stronger person, Tapsell offers the advice those suffering need to know. Light the Fire Within You shows readers the light of someone who has been to the dark edges of life and lived to tell the tale.

Tapsell is now retired from the British Army after 37 years of service. Light the Fire Within You is his first book.
