Learning Life from the Mound - New Novel Follows Recent College Grad Pursuing Unlikely Pitching Career

WARRENTON, Mo., Nov. 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nothing is too big or difficult for John Paul Jones to master. This recent college graduate sets his mind on the pitcher's mound in a fun, provocative new novel, WOW!!! (now available through 1stBooks), by Robert M. Hall.

WOW!!! is the story of John Paul Jones, a young college grad who is dedicated to any venture he chooses to undertake. Raised by his hard-working mother after his father died when John was young, he has been successful in all of life's experiences so far, thanks to his level of commitment to work and perseverance. With an uncanny ability to "throw a rock," John decides to capitalize on this after graduating with an accounting degree. Applying the same dedication to pitching as he did with past endeavors, his ability to throw a baseball quickly develops. He realizes there may be a possibility of marketing this skill.

Through his journey and development, John meets a slew of interesting people and enjoys a plethora of unusual experiences. The honorable principles he learned from his mother come in handy as this sharp, all American boy careens through life's experiences. John learns what it means to succeed and fail as the novel throws a curveball of an ending.

Hall began his journey in life from the small town of East Liverpool, Ohio. He has had a "delightful tour of the United States" and spent nearly two years in World War II.

"Then with the gratitude of Uncle Sam and the G.I. Bill, I hit the books again. After stuffing my gray matter sufficiently with the vast combinations of a's and z's, I satisfied the necessary requirements to join the ranks of the chiropractic profession," Hall says.

After 38 years of seeing patients, he retired. He lives with his wife of 55 years, Marcy, in Missouri. WOW!!! is his first novel.
