HERNDON, Va., Nov. 4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Information Technology (IT) sector has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army that will support an overhaul of nearly every aspect of the Army's information technology infrastructure. This contract, Information Technology Enterprise Solutions (ITES)-Enterprise Mission Support Services Solutions (EMS3), was awarded to five contractors.
This indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, ITES EMS3, has a total contract maximum of $500 million for all five contractors. This contract is for a three-year base period (including a 60-day phase-in) and two, two-year option periods.

In addition, Dell Inc., Round Rock, Texas and Northrop Grumman IT have entered into a teaming arrangement for the Army's ITES-Enterprise Hardware Solutions contract. Under the teaming arrangement, Northrop Grumman IT will provide the Army with enterprise networking, computing, and storage products and services.

ITES is a key element of the Army Enterprise Infostructure Transformation program, which is designed to reduce the cost of maintaining information systems while improving access to information and applications.
For the ITES EMS3 contract, it is anticipated that Northrop Grumman IT will provide the types of services required that will fall under the following task areas: program management; enterprise IT policy and planning; enterprise design; integration and consolidation; information assurance; business process reengineering; requirements analysis; market research and prototyping; information and knowledge engineering; development of software interfaces and software configuration; product integration; test and evaluation; seat management; asset management and technology insertion.
"This long-term contract will assist our warfighters around the globe in accomplishing difficult missions and will significantly benefit Northrop Grumman's ongoing work with the U.S. Army," Schneider said.
Work on the ITES contract will be performed at Army bases and installations worldwide.
