Northrop Grumman Promotes Mary Ann Benischek to Vice President of Situational Awareness Systems


WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Nov. 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has promoted Mary Ann Benischek to vice president of Situational Awareness Systems within its Navigation Systems Division (NSD). Ms. Benischek reports to Dr. Alexis C. Livanos, vice president and general manager of NSD.

The Situational Awareness Systems business area includes identification friend-or-foe systems; integrated systems for avionics and land vehicle platforms, including computers and displays; fiber-optic acoustic systems; electronic maintenance and training systems; and overhaul and repair.

"Mary Ann's broad functional and program management experience will enable the growth of NSD's Situational Awareness Systems business base while ensuring customer requirements are met on existing programs," said Dr. Livanos.

NSD supplies situational awareness products for international and domestic defense and commercial markets and offers integrated avionics, navigation and positioning systems for space and high-value platform products, navigation-grade and tactical-grade inertial systems, fiber-optic gyro systems designed to customer requirements, underwater fiber-optic sensors, identification friend-or-foe transponders and interrogators, cockpit displays and computers, and logistic support products and services.

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector (formerly Westinghouse) in Baltimore in 1981, Ms. Benischek worked for IIT Research Institute as a computer programmer/analyst. She joined Northrop Grumman as a software engineer, and subsequently completed cross-functional assignments in manufacturing, finance and contracts. From 1993 to 2000, Ms. Benischek managed programs and business areas for various domestic and international customers. These included F-16 radar and derivatives, B-1B radar, and the U.S. Postal Service Automated Flats Sorting machine.

In 2001, Ms. Benischek became program director where she had overall responsibility for the Electronic Systems sector's enterprise resource planning initiatives, including the fully integrated SAP project.

Ms. Benischek received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Fordham University in New York, N.Y., a master's degree in mathematics from Lehman College in Bronx, N.Y., and has completed the Harvard University General Manager's Program.

The Navigation Systems Division is part of the company's Baltimore, Md.-based Electronic Systems sector, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of defense and commercial electronics and systems including airborne radar, navigation systems, electronic countermeasures, precision weapons, airspace management systems, communications systems, space sensors, marine and naval systems, government systems and logistics services.
