Volvo Buses has won an order for 79 city buses to Belgium

GOTEBORG, Sweden, Nov. 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Volvo Bus Benelux and the coachbuilder VDL Jonckheere have won a joint order to supply 79 Volvo B7RLE low-entry regional buses to the Belgian operator De Lijn.

De Lijn is an autonomous state company providing city and regional transport in Flanders by bus and tram. Since 2002, around 100 buses have been delivered to the De Lijn subcontractors.

"The success of our previous deliveries to the subcontractors has given us an excellent opportunity to further develop our relationship with De Lijn," says Erland Morelissen, Manager of Volvo Bus Benelux.

The contract was signed at the beginning of November and delivery is to take place in eighteen months.

The Volvo B7RLE low-entry with a Jonckheere Transit 2000 body is a city and regional bus, offering low operating costs, and combining unique driving characteristics with superior passenger comfort.
