AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Nov. 18, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), has announced that it has added Fink Electric, of Russia, to its growing list of distributors of the EMS Fleet 55 Satcom terminal. Moscow-based Fink Electric has committed to buying a substantial number of Fleet 55 terminals.
Yuri Fink, the General Director of Fink Electric, the named inventor in 40 patents in Russia, founded Fink Electric a couple of years ago. Already having an existing reputation in the aero market and a relationship with EMS SATCOM's Aero Group, Fink Electric will now be applying its expertise in aero high-speed data to the merchant, passenger and SAR segments within a maritime market comprising Russia and the majority of the CIS. Yuri is also the General Director of General Telecom, an ISP that sells airtime on behalf of Inmarsat LESO Morsviazsputnik. Fink Electric will thus be providing a complete package of hardware and satellite airtime to its maritime client base. Commenting on the deal, Nils Helle, Director of Programs of EMS SATCOM, said,
"We had not planned to be entering the Russian market quite as early as this, but we decided the relationship with Fink Electric would move our distribution strategy forward by several months, which is a very positive move." He added, "Yuri Fink's commitment represents what will be the largest order we have seen to date and demonstrates a high degree of confidence in our product and the target market's need for it."
