Emulex Strengthens Senior Management Team


COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) announced today the appointment of Jim McCluney to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer, reporting to Paul Folino, Emulex CEO. Initially, McCluney will focus on the integration of Vixel operations into Emulex, including sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing. Kirk Roller, who will continue to report to Folino, will assume the role of President, Worldwide Sales, and will oversee sales activity for all Emulex product lines, focusing on customers and strategic relationships.

During his tenure at Vixel, McCluney successfully migrated Vixel's strategic focus to pioneer the emerging embedded storage switching market, where Vixel achieved a leadership position. Prior to joining Vixel, McCluney co-founded and co-led Ridge Technologies, a storage subsystem and management software company that was acquired by Adaptec, which then retained McCluney as Corporate Vice President of Storage Systems. Prior to his positions at Ridge and Adaptec, McCluney served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations for Apple Computer, where he implemented a worldwide restructuring of manufacturing, logistics, distribution and information systems structures and processes. Prior to his tenure at Apple, McCluney worked at Digital Equipment Corporation, where as Vice President of Worldwide Materials and Logistics, he led a team of 8000 employees with a $6 billion procurement budget.
