HERNDON, Va., Nov. 24, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Information Technology (IT) sector will design, develop, integrate, test and deliver training support packages to support the program training requirements of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Science Applications International Corporation are the program's lead systems integration team.
Northrop Grumman IT is one of four Northrop Grumman sectors serving as either prime contractors or subcontractors on 10 of the FCS program's 23 industry partner teams. The FCS program, a Department of Defense initiative worth approximately $14.9 billion, is designed to transform the Army into a more agile force capable of going anywhere with enough power to overcome any adversary.
The company's work on the training support packages will offer the Army a low-risk approach for the development of the program's collective training. Northrop Grumman IT is a prime contractor for the training support packages, and will be assisted by Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector.
The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity training support contract is worth potentially worth $23 million to Northrop Grumman IT over seven years. The FCS contracts awarded to Northrop Grumman as a whole could exceed $450 million, making Northrop Grumman the top contractor on the project.

FCS is a networked "system of systems" that will use advanced communication technologies to link 18 manned and unmanned ground and airborne platforms and sensors.
Northrop Grumman IT will participate with representatives from the Army, the lead systems integrator and FCS systems developers to coordinate the development and implementation of the program's training approaches and systems.
This contract will bring approximately 30 new jobs to Northrop Grumman IT. Work on the contract will be performed at company locations in Radcliff, Ky., Killeen, Texas, and Orlando, Fla.
