What It Takes to Be the King of England -- Author Offers Comedy and Life Lessons in New Fictional Work

ARLINGTON, Va., December 4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- What does one get when destiny mixes with rigid rules and order in the kingdom of England? A royal mess! In a fun new novel titled The Journey (now available through 1stBooks), by author Tracy C. Taylor, readers are invited to meet the king of England, his two misfit sons, the captain of the king's guard and the captain's precocious, but lovable daughter, Sam.

The king has a big problem. He needs an heir, but one son is a tyrant and the other, Michael, is a bookworm. The captain of the king's guard also needs a son to inherit his title. However, he has only a daughter, who is learning to be a knight and loving every minute of it.

When Sam is chosen to take young Prince Michael to Swinton School, she doesn't realize she's about to begin a journey of a lifetime. The king appoints Sam as Michael's guardian, hoping she will make the reluctant prince into a capable leader. However, this new mission proves to be more difficult than Sam expects. She must outrun wolves, survive a torture chamber in western China, outsmart pirates, save her son from his wicked stepmother and turn a boy into the king of England.

Can Sam and Michael survive such a harrowing ordeal, and will Michael become England's next king?

Taylor takes readers on an exciting ride as Michael and Sam learn what it really takes to become a leader and the meaning of true strength in The Journey.

A native of Arlington, Va., Taylor has published poetry in three different anthologies by World of Poetry and plans to release her own book of poetry soon. She's a graduate of George Mason University and served in the U.S. Army.

The Journey is Taylor's first published novel.
