Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman's Sidney E. Fuchs Named to National Defense University Distinguished Visiting Fellow


HERNDON, Va., Dec. 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sidney E. Fuchs, vice president and director of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Intelligence Operations unit, has been selected as a National Defense University (NDU) Distinguished Visiting Fellow. In September 2002, Fuchs was nominated by the White House and appointed by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld to a four-year term on the NDU's Board of Visitors.

Fuchs was selected as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow by U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Michael Dunn, president, NDU. Distinguished Visiting Fellows typically focus on a particular area of study or are appointed to conduct research, and are integrated in the activities of the university by the NDU president. In this capacity, the fellows provide feedback and guidance to the university and the Department of Defense on joint military education, strategy and policy.

As a Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Fuchs will focus on programs that address the development of newly selected one-star admirals and generals that are part of NDU's CAPSTONE course. CAPSTONE is an intensive six-week course that is mandatory for new generals and flag officers and consists of seminars, case studies, information discussions, visits to key U.S. military commands within the continental U.S., and overseas trips to Europe, the Pacific and the Western Hemisphere. The course objective is to help these officers become more effective in planning and employing U.S. forces in joint and combined operations. The officers also examine major issues affecting national security decision-making, military strategy, joint and combined doctrine, interoperability and key allied-nation issues.

"Sid continues his commitment to and participation in programs that make our country stronger."Fuchs has more than 15 years of senior management experience in government and private industry. At Northrop Grumman IT , he is responsible for an operating unit with annual revenues of approximately $150 million. The unit, Intelligence Operations, provides information technology solutions, systems development and integration, enterprise engineering, and operations solutions to the U.S. national and defense Intelligence community worldwide.
