NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Dec. 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) announced today that Thomas H. Johnston has joined the Newport News sector as vice president, Contracts and Pricing. He will initially serve as deputy to Ron Ward, current vice president of Contracts and Pricing, and will transition to Ward's position upon Ward's retirement next year. Johnston will be responsible for proposal development, negotiations and administration of prime contracts.

Prior to joining Newport News, Johnston served as director of Finance and Business Management for Lockheed Martin's Maritime Systems and Sensors business segment. In this position he represented Lockheed Martin in the Northrop Grumman/Lockheed Martin collaboration for the CVN 77 warfare system and the Arsenal ship project. In addition, he was the principal architect for Lockheed Martin in establishing the Northrop Grumman/Lockheed Martin joint venture for the U. S. Coast Guard's multibillion dollar Deepwater project. He began his career with Lockheed Martin's Aero and Naval Systems division in 1983 and has more than 20 years of contracts and business management experience.

Johnston earned a bachelor's degree in business administration summa cum laude, from Towson University. He is a member of the National Contract Management Association and is a life member of the United States Navy League.
