Associations Exchange Information Related to Global Wireless Communications

MIAMI, Dec. 08, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- A cooperation agreement between the CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) and the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL) (www.citel.oas.org) has been signed today, creating a framework to coordinate efforts in implementing activities, of common interest. This agreement establishes a mechanism to ensure cooperation, and avoid duplication of efforts and expenditures, allowing for information exchange between the two associations on various aspects of wireless communications. The announcement was made at the CDMA Americas Congress being held this week in Miami.

"This agreement with CITEL demonstrates the CDG's ongoing commitment to growing the global 3G services market, especially within Latin America, a region with tremendous opportunity," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "Information sharing among organizations such as the CDG and CITEL enables the harmonious development and expansion of 3G wireless telephony across the globe."

"This collaboration will provide both entities with first-hand knowledge on important issues affecting the industry, allowing us to work seamlessly and without duplicating efforts," said Clovis Baptista, executive secretary of CITEL. "This is an especially important initiative given the role that wireless technologies now play in the provision of connectivity."

Under the agreement, CITEL and the CDG will exchange information and coordinate the organization of seminars, meetings and roundtables on matters of common interest; collaborate on joint projects, training and publications.
