Poems to Stir the Soul and Prompt a Smile -- Poet's new book illustrates ability to write for fun and inspiration

HILLSBORO, Ill., Dec. 9, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Whether it's a light-hearted poem to lift the spirit or a more stirring one about the Lord, Bonnie Bollman's new book of poetry, Bonnie's Bits From the Beautiful Life (now available through 1stBooks), is "a collection of beautiful poems to help beautiful people keep a beautiful, positive outlook on life."

Join Bollman as she rejoices in the life and resurrection of Jesus. Readers may watch a young child peek beside the staircase banisters to catch a glimpse of Jolly St. Nick or find a Mother's Day poem to give in appreciation of all her hard work. The book also includes more heartfelt poems about holidays or humorous topics. Want a poem about taking a vacation? How about the lack of one? What about the infinite ways to cook an egg? Bonnie's Bits has it all!

In "Ode to A Safety Pin," she captures the thoughts many individuals, in a hurry to get here or there, can identify with: "Come, little pin, and help me out;/ Together we'll conventions flout./ Who knows my sleeve is torn and pinned?/ Nobody sees it there within./ My buttons are buttoned, but only me/ Knows there's a pin holding two or three./ No one can tell my hem came loose;/ Nobody knows I'm such a goose/ I fix my flaws with safety pins- - / I 'spect the fish pin on their fins!/ Yes, my friends, in any weather,/ It's safety pins hold us together!!"

With captivating verses for every age group, Bollman's poems stir the soul and part the lips with a smile.

Bollman earned a bachelor's degree from Greenville (Ill.) College and a master's degree in counseling and guidance from the University of Illinois. She is a retired teacher. Extremely active as a volunteer, she also offers her talents as a piano player in the Litchfield Kitchen Band, Hillsboro Free Methodist Church and a tri-church choir that visits nursing homes.
