BETHPAGE, N.Y., Jan. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed Patricia McMahon vice president and integrated product team leader for electronic warfare programs within its Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare (AEW&EW) Systems business area, a part of the company's Integrated Systems sector. McMahon joins Northrop Grumman from BAE Systems.
In her new position, McMahon will lead all business activities related to electronic warfare and electronic attack. In part, her work includes the company's activities on the viability, upgrades and modifications to the U.S. Navy's EA-6B electronic attack aircraft; the development of the Navy's EA-18G electronic attack aircraft in support of the Boeing Company; business area pursuits of U.S. Air Force follow-on support jammer capabilities; and other electronic warfare-related programs.
The Northrop Grumman-built EA-6B Prowler is the nation's only electronic attack aircraft. The EA-18G is slated to enter development later this year or early in 2004 and will replace Prowlers beginning next decade.
McMahon began her career in program management with BAE Systems (then Hazeltine Corp.) in 1981. She advanced through increasingly responsible positions in business management and program management. In 1988 she was promoted to director of manufacturing programs and in 1996 was named director, airborne electronic identification programs.
In 1998, McMahon was named vice president, electronic identification, mission computer and displays programs. In 2002, she was appointed vice president and general manager, electronic/mission computer/displays/antenna programs and site executive for BAE's Greenlawn, N.Y., operation.
McMahon earned a bachelor's degree in business management from New York Institute of Technology and is involved in a number of community and professional activities. Among them, she is chairman of the Babylon Planning Board and an active member of the National Contract Management Association, the Navy League, and the Association of Old Crows which is a professional association of members engaged in the science and practice of electronic warfare, information operations and related disciplines.
