MIC Retires 13-1/2% and 11% Senior Notes


NEW YORK, LONDON, and BERTRANGE, Luxembourg, Jan. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Millicom International Cellular S.A. ("Millicom") (Nasdaq:MICC) today announces that, by the end of 2003, it had retired its remaining 13-1/2 Senior Subordinated Notes due 2006 and 11% Senior Notes due 2006.

The remaining US$137 million of the 13-1/2 Senior Subordinated Notes due 2006 was repaid on December 29 2003, following the earlier repayment of US$395 of the 11% Senior Notes due 2006 in the first half of December 2003.
