Silent Prophet -- Author spins tale of one man's unique ability to foresee coming events

BRANTFORD, Ontario, Jan. 16, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Even as a child, Roy Steed could predict the future. Both a gift and a curse, his unusual ability continues to develop as time passes. Silent Prophet (now available through 1stBooks), a new novel by author Robert Thomas Stockdale, details Roy's bizarre experiences and struggles.

Set in eastern Canada and the United States, Silent Prophet follows Roy, an ambitious and successful business man, and his loving, brave wife Sheila. His unique ability takes them on dangerous adventures to battle those attempting to destroy their family. Roy's "gift" not only puts him and his family in danger; it also brings Roy great anguish and frustration. Though he can foresee future events, he cannot prevent them from happening.

When Roy has an encounter with two Mafia teenagers, he has no idea that the event will change his fate. After many more unusual confrontations, Roy and his talents become a focus of the RCMP, FBI and the CIA. These agencies hire Roy to work as an undercover agent. However, they have ulterior motives. They invite him deep sea fishing, but plan to use him as bait.

A riveting novel, Silent Prophet captures readers with its unique characters and realistic plotline.

An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, Stockdale grew up in Brantford, Ontario and married his wife, Shirley, in 1949.
