America Mirroring the Collapse of Roman Empire

New Satirical Novel Guarantees Tears and Chuckles

BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 20, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- The leaders of the U.S., including the President, made numerous decisions based solely upon vested interests, hidden agendas, and oil industry profits. Unfortunately, those decisions ultimately led to moral depravity, economic decline, and the cataclysmic destruction of the world. Stephen Uman, government official and former journalist, has penned a brilliant satire of current politics; he has created a fast-paced, hard-hitting, heart-breaking story that connects the fall of the U.S. with the fall of Ancient Rome two thousand years ago.

The Vice-President's personal cardiologist, Alan Grande, tells the story. In that position, he had been privy to secret meetings and insider information: He saw how the President was selected in 2000 and how the voting machines were rigged in 2004. He witnessed the government's involvement in the tragic events of 9/11, the truth behind the U.S. invasion of other nations, the elimination of civil rights, and the return of women and minorities to second-class citizenship. Alan spent three years in a detention camp for allegedly violating the Patriot Act.

The Gladiators Wore Blue is a must-read for everyone who cares about what the future may hold, for everyone who wonders what kind of world our children and grandchildren will inherit. This book will stun some readers with its political and social implications, it will tug at the heartstrings with its portrayal of human love and understanding, and it will cause others to roll on the floor in fits of laughter.

About the Author

Stephen Uman's involvement with politics began at an early age. Growing up in a republican town, he was detained and questioned as a young man for supporting a democratic candidate. This event served to enhance his interest and involvement, and so began a lifetime of viewing politics and politicians with caution, vigilance, and cynicsm. Mr. Uman has an inherent knack for visualizing the private agendas, corrupt decisions, and blatant ignorance so prevalent among today's politicians.

Stephen Uman attended M.I.T., Pratt Institute, and the New School for Social Research. In addition to books and scripts, he has written a number of political commentaries such as Magic Bullets and Wilbur's Wonderful Words of Wisdom. Mr. Uman's first book, Snow On The Carpet, published in 1994 and reprinted in 2003, recounts his former undercover activities.
