EMS Technologies Delivers Over $1.5 Million Of Hi-Rel Space Computers


MONTREAL, Jan. 22, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that its Space & Technology/Montreal Division has completed delivery of eleven ESP603 Enhanced Space Processors for a variety of applications and customers over recent weeks. The total value of these deliveries exceeds $1.5 million.

The ESP603 is a space-qualified computer, based on a PowerPC TSPC603R processor operating at 166MHz to 266MHz clock rates that is designed and built to the highest space mission/safety critical standards. Featuring levels of integration normally found only on commercial products, the 3U Compact-PCI ESP603 Board provides high-performance processing capabilities and I/O functions and includes level 1 (L1) cache memory, on-board DRAM, EEPROM, built in test equipment, a sophisticated digital watchdog timer, and a complement of General Purpose I/O (GPIO), interrupt and timer functions. The ESP603 also includes a fully functional PCI bus interface to allow unit expansion.

Applications for the recent deliveries include planetary landers, military satellites and research labs based in space and advanced communications systems. The recent deliveries were for a variety of commercial and space agency customers in North America and in Europe. All units were delivered on or ahead of schedule.
