ALR Technologies Announces New Products to Benefit Vision Care Needs

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Jan. 27, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- ALR Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:ALRT), based in Winston-Salem, announced today the completion of new health reminder products designed for the Vision Care Industry. Among the new products are those designed to help people remember to change their disposable contact lens, whether they are 7-day disposable, 14-day disposable or 30-day disposable lenses. Other products are designed to help people remember to take medications for glaucoma or for post surgery treatments.

"We received a phone call from one of the leading manufacturers of contact lens regarding availability of lens replacement reminder devices. We immediately put our technical personnel to work on a products to meet these needs and are pleased to report that design and programming is now complete and we'll have commercial production in early 2nd quarter", reports Stan Cruitt, president of ALR Technologies. " We have been informed that failure to replace contact lens as directed can contribute to eye irritations and even worse. And that most people fail to change lens on time as directed and that, on average, people using lenses that are to be replaced every 14 days forget and keep wearing them nearly twice as long as they should."

"The new products have a liquid crystal display that shows the number of days until the next scheduled contact lens change," adds Cruitt. "The product was designed for the ultimate in ease of use-it is set simply by pulling a tab at the time contact lens are replaced, and that initiates the countdown of days. Nothing else is required other than responding to the beeping reminder alert every 14 days. This silences the alarm and automatically resets the day countdown back to 14. The process is the same for 7 day and 30 day reminders. We are in the process of applying for patent protection, and have been told that no such compliance products exist for vision care."

ALR Technologies reports that there are more than 35,000 vision care centers in the US and millions of people using contact lens. They report their vision care products can serve both the contact lens manufacturers who desire to enhance compliance for appropriate replacement of their contact lens brands, and serve the vision care retailers and retail chains by providing them with a much needed new product to sell to their customers.

ALR Technologies also has products that will help people stay compliant with their medications for treatment of glaucoma or post eye surgery treatment. These products can be programmed for one to eight reminder events per day. More information is available at the company web site, www.alrt.com.
