Evil from Across the Universe -- New Sci-Fi Novel Depicts the Evil Corruption of an Alien Planet and Its Attempted Rescue

OSKALOOSA, Iowa, Jan. 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- In a captivating story, Out of the Purple Glow (now available through 1stBooks), that weaves the reality of evil with a thrilling science fiction storyline, Jon Tal Murphree illustrates the negative effects of human immorality not just on humans, but on creatures from outer space.

The planet Regaleon, which is located in a far away universe and has a chemical makeup very different from Earth, sends an emissary to this planet. Kasper is an alien being sent to introduce his race to humans, explore the human dilemma and report back to his home command. What he finds, however, will change Regaleon forever.

He begins his tour in Times Square, continuing on to Chicago and Atlanta. During the process he is humanized and picks up the plight of moral evil. Kasper also marries Pamela, an Earthling. Kasper and Pamela travel to Regaleon, a pristine planet with a unique purple glow. By visiting, the couple infects the entire plant. Regaleon is corrupted, crime rates soar and its natural systems breed disease and violence. The planet loses its distinctive purple glow, and Kasper and Pamela are sent back to Earth in exile.

Upon returning to Earth, Kasper is introduced to Christianity, and all his moral evil is washed away. With his recovered moral state, he heads back to his native planet on a redemptive mission to salvage what's left of his beloved home.

Murphree is an academic dean and vice president of Vennard College in University Park, Iowa. An ordained clergyman in the United Methodist Church, he holds degrees from the University of Kentucky, the Asbury Theological Seminary and Toccoa Falls College. He is the author of 15 books, including The Trinity and Human Personality, Responsible Evangelism and Adventure Not Alone.
