A Special Connection to the Spirit Realm -- New book tells of 1920s Irish girl and her lifelong contact with spirit guides

ORPINGTON, United Kingdom, January 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- In a compelling novel about the spirit world, a young Irish girl experiences a magnificent vision of Heaven while she learns to work on a farm in Ireland in the 1920s. In Be'be Byrne's new novel, The Gold Gates of Heaven (now available through 1stBooks), Mary O'Neill, her family and the O'Donovan family struggle through hard times while Mary engages in a lifelong connection with the spirit realm.

In her bed one night, young Mary experiences a wonderful sight. She had always been in tune with spirits who would contact her, but one night she feels herself hovering over her bed. In a sight that leaves her astonished, she sees the golden gates of Heaven before her and the hands of her ancestors stretched out to greet her. With a whooshing sound, however, she feels her body slowly sink back down onto her bed. Is it a dream or a real vision? Surely her brother, who is studying to be a priest and is also a very spiritual person who has visions himself, could help her answer that question.

The Golden Gates of Heaven continues to tell Mary's story, including her marriage to Patrick O'Donovan and the difficult and heart wrenching choices they have to make about one of their ill twin daughters. With visions through her days, Mary becomes friends with spirits from the other side, including her grandmother.

This emotional story weaves the realistic aspects of the Irish famine in the late 1840s and the struggle to work the farms in the 1920s with the abstract world of spirit contact.

Be'be, who was born in Scotland, grew up in England. From a young age she became acquainted with guides from the spirit realm, including Mother Mary and Father Joseph, a nun and a philosopher priest from the Middle Ages. These spiritual guides have helped her through ill health, divorce and raising her sons. The Golden Gates of Heaven is her first book.
