EMS Technologies Opens Sales and Marketing Office in Washington, D.C. Area

ATLANTA and WASHINGTON, Feb. 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) has announced today the opening of its Washington, D.C. marketing and sales office in Ballston, Va., the heart of Arlington County. The office will serve primarily as a convenient, local presence for EMS's SATCOM, Space & Technology, and Wireless Divisions.

"We look forward to improving our interactions with our representatives, our customers and our partners in the D.C. region. This presence will allow us to be much more responsive to the needs of the Department of Defense (DoD), various U.S. Government agencies, and major defense and satellite prime contractors," noted Jay Grove, senior vice president and general manager, EMS Space & Technology/Atlanta Division.

EMS has numerous partners, clients, and potential clients in the D.C. area, including Inmarsat and Inmarsat LESOs (Land Earth Station Operators) and service providers, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, NOAA, all branches of the United States military, the Department of Homeland Security, and government federal agencies such as the FBI, CIA and DEA.

Dr. Neil Mackay, senior vice president and general manager of EMS SATCOM, adds, "Having an EMS presence in the Capital will facilitate our dialogue with key technology partners, and with customers looking at high-speed data and mobile SATCOM solutions for defense and homeland security applications. A significant number of our current strategic partners and potential partners are based in this area."

EMS Wireless also will use the office as both a sales location and as a base for serving its in-building repeater customers in the D.C. area

Gerald Hickman, senior vice president and general manager of EMS Wireless, noted, "We have several major in-building installations occurring in the area. We expect to use this office as a home base for other projects that are on the horizon for later this year."
