POTOMAC, Md., Feb. 3, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Airbee Wireless Inc., (Pink Sheets:ABEW), innovators of intelligent software for wireless communications, announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with WinEdge & Wireless Pte. Ltd. ("WinEdge") of Singapore to provide its UltraLite(TM) Media Access Control ("MAC") software for incorporation into the microprocessor line of WinEdge products. The UltraLite(TM) MAC is Airbee's base protocol stack product and has been successfully demonstrated to WinEdge for both file transfer and voice communication modes.
WinEdge plans to use the MAC for several applications and also has signed a co-branding agreement with Airbee for the MAC and microprocessor combination to be branded "WinAir" in its marketing efforts to the emerging markets of Asia.
The two companies are currently involved in a joint development effort to produce a wireless communications driver that will run on a special operating system for a client in China. The driver will interface the MAC to the client operating system and allow faster operating speed at reduced cost. When implemented, it is expected that tens of millions of MAC enabled devices will be sold.
