Virco Inducted into Environmental Hall of Fame


TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- In recognition of its impressive, long-standing environmental achievements, Virco Mfg. Corporation (AMEX:VIR) -- America's leading maker and supplier of classroom furniture -- has been honored as a charter member of the WasteWise Hall of Fame by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Since beginning its resource recovery program in 1989, Virco's recycling initiatives and related efforts have received an array of national, state and local environmental honors. Among its many commendations, the company has earned six EPA WasteWise Awards, a Keep America Beautiful National Award, an Evergreen Award from the United States General Services Administration, and the National Recycling Coalition's Fred Schmitt Award.

Established in 1994, the WasteWise program assists more than 1,500 voluntary business, government and institutional partners in achieving improved waste reduction. The other WasteWise Hall of Fame charter members are the Eastman Kodak Company and the Public Service Enterprise Group, a major natural gas and electric power provider.
