Local Women's Non-Profits to Host Seventh Entrepreneurial Workshop

Next Session of the E101 Program to Cover Operational Organization

 WHAT:  The Association for Women in Technology, Southern
        California (AWT), in conjunction with the Forum for Women
        Entrepreneurs of Orange County (FWE), and the Orange County
        Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners
        (NAWBO-OC), will host the seventh session of E101 on
        Thursday, February 12, 2004. Session Seven is titled
        "Organizing Your Operations." The workshop will feature guest
        speaker Matt Harris, President and CEO of ExamWeb.

        Harris founded ExamWeb in 1997 while preparing to take the
        CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) exam. Since then he has
        served as the company's President and CEO. Prior to that,
        Harris worked with a variety of consumer product companies.
        In 1991 he joined Warner Brothers to launch their Studio
        Store division. As Western Regional Gallery Operations
        Manager, he assisted the company in expanding from four to
        more than 100 stores in just three years. He was responsible
        for operational growth and development, as well as management
        and training of a gallery sales force in over 20 stores on
        the West Coast generating over $25 million in revenue. Harris
        has been profiled on the CNN - Fortune Newsstand Show, in
        BusinessWeek and in Young Money Magazine. He has also
        appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times,
        Washington Post, Money Magazine, and the San Francisco
        Chronicle discussing IPO's, investment strategies and the
        e-Learning industry. Harris received an MBA from Pepperdine
        University's Executive Program with a concentration in
        strategic planning.

        Session Seven participants will learn to understand a variety
        of operational details that must be addressed in launching
        and running a business. Speaker topics include:
         - Choosing a location
         - Establishing and managing operations, e.g. manufacturing
         - Purchasing and inventory
         - Record keeping
         - Research and development
         - Managing risk
         - Setting and measuring performance objectives
         - Managing growth

        E101 is a series of monthly luncheon classes designed to
        prepare promising entrepreneurs to launch and build new
        companies in the high-growth technology and life sciences
        sectors. The program offers a structured educational process
        for completing a business plan and obtaining venture capital
        through two-hour workshops that provide an overview of issues
        relevant to building a solid and successful business, as well
        as networking opportunities.

        Luncheon classes are held once a month through April of 2004
        at the UCI University Club in Irvine. Attendance costs $30
        for members of AWT, FWE and NAWBO. Guests pay $40.00 and
        students pay $20. The fee includes lunch and materials. Free
