Leadership Atlanta Announces The Creation Of A New Program, L.E.A.D. Atlanta

ATLANTA, Feb. 12, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Leadership Atlanta, an organization that cultivates community leaders, has announced the creation of a new program called L.E.A.D. Atlanta, which stands for leadership, education, action and direction. The program is designed for young professionals, between 25 and 32 years old, and will take them through a nine-month curriculum that includes lessons about government and ethics, appreciating and managing diversity, and board stewardship and governance.

In addition to focusing on these issues, the L.E.A.D. Atlanta program will provide opportunities for participants to hone important management and leadership skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, advocacy, marketing, parliamentary procedure, and fundraising.

"Participants in L.E.A.D. Atlanta will be immersed in issues and skills so that they can grow into better community leaders and become stronger in their chosen professions," said Hala Moddelmog, Chair of Leadership Atlanta's Board of Trustees. "We're interested in supporting the development of tomorrow's regional leaders -- and we know of no other program in our community that brings together young adults from across the entire metro area for this kind of in-depth focus."

There will be 35 young people in L.E.A.D. Atlanta's inaugural class. To apply for the program, the person must be nominated by an organization or individual who vouches for his or her past achievements and high potential for future community leadership. Additional information about the program will be available in late March.

Through the creation of this program, Leadership Atlanta continues its 34-year old tradition as the longest running leadership-training program of its kind in Atlanta.
