PASCAGOULA, Miss., Feb. 18, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems sector has announced the appointment of two vice presidents within its supply chain management area.

Richard Schenk, presently vice president, Material, has been named vice president, Supply Chain Management. He will report directly to Dr. Philip A. Dur, president of Ship Systems, and will have responsibility for unit assembly, component manufacturing, planning, production control, transportation, material acquisition/movement and warehousing.
"Richard's thorough knowledge of the shipbuilding industry, and specifically our processes here at Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, makes him the obvious choice for this position," Dur said. "I have relied on him to tackle challenges before and his performance has been nothing short of exemplary. As we focus our attention on building an effective supply chain management infrastructure for our sector we will rely heavily on Richard's expertise yet again to lead this organization to success."
Schenk joined the company in 1982 as a senior engineer and has held increasingly responsible positions in engineering, program management, strategic planning, business development and full service operations.
Schenk earned a bachelor's degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Jimmie Haygood Jr., director of production manufacturing, has been promoted to vice president of unit manufacturing. He will report directly to Schenk and will be responsible for manufacturing all shipboard components and assembly of all units for delivery to the integration areas in Pascagoula and New Orleans.

A 32-year company veteran, Haygood started in the Electrical Department, holding increasingly responsible positions in waterfront management. His previous work includes commercial programs, production support, and directing hull, build and integration areas.
Haygood studied business management at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi.
