EMS Technologies Demonstrates Broadband, Space Technology At Satellite 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) will feature its latest space, mobile satellite and broadband technology capabilities during the Satellite 2004 show being held March 2-4 at the new Washington Convention Center.

EMS Satellite Networks will feature continuous live demonstrations of its DVB-RCS high-speed, two-way Internet-via-satellite system featuring high-speed file transfer, streaming video and audio, video-conferencing and VoIP telephony.

EMS's Space & Technology/Atlanta Division will present the latest concept for using reconfigurable multi-beam on-orbit antennas, previously deployed for MILSATCOM applications, to maximize the flexibility in adjusting beam patterns on-orbit for the next generation of commercial satellites. The Division also will display some of its recently developed advanced technology hardware, including a tri-mode aperture capable of supporting the latest in advanced optics for providing simultaneous RF, IR and optical links; and a notional dual-band aperture for use in tracking antennas, similar to that used on the intraflight data link deployed on F/A 22 military planes to track moving targets.

EMS's Space & Technology/Montreal Division will showcase some of the latest developments in membrane antenna technology, advanced electronic power conversion products, DVB-RCS-compliant digital on-board processors, and enhanced space processors.

The Aeronautical SATCOM Products Group will be featuring the HSD-128 High Speed Data Aeronautical Terminal, the HSD-X High Speed Data Extension and the AMT-50 High-Gain Multi-Channel SATCOM Antenna. The HSD-128, coupled with HSD-X, allows aircraft passengers to use their communications equipment at speeds of up to 256 kb/s. The HSD-128 supports voice and data, videoconferencing, real-time Internet and e-mail, access to private networks and wireless networking. The AMT-50 maintains the smallest footprint of any High-Gain Antenna System in the industry, and provides uncompromising performance.

EMS's Land Mobile Group will be showcasing its full suite of high-speed global data and voice solutions, including the PDT-100 terminal, which provides two-way data communications, real-time messaging, and GPS via its omni-directional antenna; the STORM, a compact, rugged go-anywhere terminal that provides high-speed global data (up to 128 kbps by bonding two terminals) and voice over INMARSAT's GAN service; and the Cyclone, a GAN terminal equipped with its own power supply and a high performance land mobile steerable antenna, which provides global high-speed voice and data on-the-move.
