EMS Satellite Networks Wins More Than $8 Million In DVB-RCS Contracts In Last Three Months

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 3, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Satellite Networks, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today that it has received over US$8 million in orders for purchase of EMS SatNet DVB-RCS hubs and terminals from customers in North America, Europe, Asia and India over the last three months. The orders include orders for over 1,000 terminals, as well as upgrades to existing systems, development platforms for integrators, and three new systems for military, VoIP and distance-education networks.

"EMS has now deployed more than 30 hubs and thousands of terminals to over 20 customers worldwide. Our market research indicates that this installed base represents a 75% world market share in DVB-RCS systems, and a 40% world market share in DVB-RCS terminals," said Don Osborne, senior vice president and general manager, EMS Satellite Networks. "These orders reflect the market's confidence in EMS' solutions, and underscore EMS' continuing dominance of the DVB-RCS market."

EMS's DVB-RCS product and technology solutions enable two-way broadband access for a wide range of networking applications. Applications range from Internet access and simple web browsing, to more sophisticated virtual private networks, videoconferencing and voice-over-IP. EMS' DVB-RCS solutions are the only multiple-access solutions capable of delivering data transfer rates of up to 45Mbps for downloads and up to 4Mbps for uploads at each remote terminal, or enough bandwidth to support anything from a small business to an entire community from a single remote terminal.
