EMS Satellite Networks Launches New DVB-RCS Terminal Models

WASHINGTON, March 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Satellite Networks, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), today launched two new models of DVB-RCS Satellite Interactive Terminals. Both models are extensions of existing, field-proven products, enabling additional features of on-board terminals to offer even better performance to EMS customers.

-- DVB-RCS SIT Model 2020: This model is an extension of the Series
2000 Enterprise terminal. It supports data rates of up to 36Mbps
inbound and 4Mbps outbound, and offers both on-board, two-way TCP
acceleration as well as IPSec encryption of traffic. The Model
2020 is among the fastest two-way satellite interactive terminals
    available today.

-- DVB-RCS SIT Model 3020: This model is an extension of the Series
3000 Professional/SOHO terminal. It supports data rates of up to
12Mbps inbound and 2Mbps outbound, and offers both on-board,
two-way TCP acceleration as well as IPSec encryption of traffic.

All EMS terminal models are fully DVB-RCS-compliant, with demonstrated interoperability with several competitors' systems.

"EMS is constantly improving the performance and reducing the costs of its products," said Don Osborne, senior vice president and general manager, EMS Satellite Networks. "These two new terminal models are the first of many product announcements we intend to make this year, and underscore EMS's continuing performance lead in the DVB-RCS market."

EMS's DVB-RCS product and technology solutions enable two-way broadband access for a wide range of networking applications. Applications range from Internet access and simple web browsing, to more sophisticated virtual private networks, videoconferencing and voice-over-IP. EMS' DVB-RCS solutions are the only multiple-access solutions capable of delivering data transfer rates of up to 45Mbps for downloads and up to 4Mbps for uploads at each remote terminal, or enough bandwidth to support anything from a small business to an entire community from a single remote terminal.
