MEDIA ADVISORY -- U.S. Customs & Border Protection Commissioner to Highlight Border Security Improvements as Homeland Security Department Marks First Year


LOS ANGELES, March 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- U.S. Customs & Border Protection Commissioner Robert C. Bonner will hold a media availability at Los Angeles International Airport on March 8, 2004, to review CBP accomplishments during the past 12 months. Commissioner Bonner's visit coincides with the one-year anniversary of the Department of Homeland Security, established on March 1, 2003, to unify the nation's security efforts.

Commissioner Bonner will review CBP policy, programs and initiatives, such as the Container Security Initiative (CSI), Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), detection technology enhancements, immigration security and other present and future border security measures impacting Los Angeles and the nation.
