PIMCO Announces Promotions

Ten Employees Named Executive Vice Presidents


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif, March 11, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- PIMCO, one of the world's leading fixed-income asset managers, has announced the promotion of 10 employees to the position of executive vice president, 11 to the position of senior vice president and 24 to the position of vice president.

The new executive vice presidents are:

-- Stephen B. Beaumont, a member of PIMCO's account-management group with an emphasis on institutional client-servicing and risk management. Mr. Beaumont joined the firm in 1999, after having operated his own financial advisory firm. Prior to that, he was associated with Merrill Lynch, where he managed their western region healthcare finance group. Mr. Beaumont has 13 years of investment banking experience and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA in finance from The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management.

-- Gregory A. Bishop, CFA, an account manager providing specialized marketing and relationship management within PIMCO's defined contribution, variable insurance, and sub-advisory businesses. Mr. Bishop joined the firm in 1997, after having been an investment consultant for William M. Mercer and a product-development actuary for TransAmerica Occidental and Reliance Insurance Company. He has 21 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

-- Sabrina C. Callin, CFA, the product manager for PIMCO's StocksPLUS and StocksPLUS Total Return products. Prior to joining the firm in 1998, she was a manager in the assurance and business advisory services group at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP. She has 13 years of investment experience and holds two bachelor's degrees with majors in finance, accounting, and economics from Texas Christian University, and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.

-- John P. Hardaway, manager of PIMCO's mutual fund accounting group. Mr. Hardaway joined the firm in 1990, having previously been associated with General Dynamics Corporation as a contract negotiator. He holds both a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Indiana University.

-- Daniel J. Ivascyn, a portfolio manager and a member of PIMCO's Mortgage and Structured Product teams. Mr. Ivascyn joined the firm in 1998, previously having been associated with Bear Stearns in the asset backed securities group as well as T. Rowe Price and Fidelity Investments. He has 13 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Occidental College and an MBA in analytic finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

-- Tomoya Masanao, head of portfolio Management in PIMCO Japan and a member of PIMCO's global team. Mr. Masanao joined the firm in 2001, previously having been associated with Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London. He held the position of Executive Director and a senior portfolio manager responsible for Japanese strategies at the GSAM's global fixed income team. Prior to that, he was associated with Sumitomo Bank as a proprietary trader in London and a credit analyst in Osaka. Mr. Masanao has 14 years of investment experience; he holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in engineering from Osaka University and an MBA from Boston University.

-- Scott L. Roney, CFA, a member of PIMCO's account-management group focusing on institutional client service. Mr. Roney joined the firm in 1993 and served as President of PIMCO Japan in Tokyo from 1998-2001 before returning to Newport Beach. Prior to working for PIMCO, he was associated with Citibank's asset-backed securitization group. Mr. Roney has 12 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and an MBA in finance and international business, with honors, from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

-- Jeff M. Sargent, manager of PIMCO's Fund Administration and Institutional Shareholder Services groups. He is also Senior Vice President of the PIMCO Funds. Mr. Sargent joined the firm in 1989 and has been in his current role since 1993. His previous experience included project management and legal editing for the State of Oregon. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Utah State University and an MBA from the Atkinson School of Management at Willamette University.

-- Ivor E. Schucking, director of European credit research. Prior to rejoining the firm in 2000, he was a director of credit research for Strong Capital Management and a credit analyst for PIMCO. Mr. Schucking also held positions as a financial economist with Montreal-based Bank Credit Analyst and as a tax consultant with Price Waterhouse. He has 12 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree in economics and international business from New York University, and an MBA in finance and international business from the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

-- Denise C. Seliga, the chief compliance officer and executive vice president of compliance. She joined the firm in 1990, and oversaw research and settlement of mortgage products and credit analysis before assuming her current role and compliance responsibilities. Ms. Seliga was previously associated with Oakley Sutton Management on the equity trading desk. She has 16 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of California, Riverside.

The following 11 employees to the position of senior vice president: Marcia K. Clark, CFA; Michael Gomez, Gregory S. Grabar, Robert J. Greer, Kazunori Harumi, Yanay Lehavi, David J. Pittman, Jason R. Rosiak, Devin Sellers, Timothy L. Shaler, and Mihir P. Worah.
