HARRISBURG, Pa., March 18, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its MultiServ mill services division, the world's single largest provider of on-site, outsourced mill services to the steel and metals industries, has been awarded a 10-year contract to provide a range of mill services at United States Steel Corporation's recently acquired steelmaking works in Smederevo, Serbia. Contract terms were not disclosed.
The new contract continues MultiServ's growing partnership with U. S. Steel and its worldwide operations. MultiServ also supports U. S. Steel's Kosice, Slovakia works and several U. S. Steel locations in the United States, including its Gary, Indiana works, the largest integrated steel plant in North America.
MultiServ will provide a range of basic mill services at the Serbia facility, including slag pit digging and hauling, metal recovery, scrap cutting and scarfing. Work is scheduled to get underway during the second quarter of 2004, and is forecast to generate positive Economic Value Added (EVA(r)) benefit from its first year of operation.
MultiServ provides the world's leading steelmakers and other metal producers with a comprehensive range of on-site outsourced mill services that support the entire steelmaking process. Similar services are provided to the non-ferrous metals industries, including copper, aluminum and nickel.
