KLIPPAN -- Energy investments

KLIPPAN, Sweden, March 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Molndal Mill KLIPPAN AB has acquired the energy plant at Molndal Mill from Vattenfall. The plant consists of a gas turbine for electricity production, a steam generator for process steam and operation of a steam turbine. Through the acquisition, Molndal Mill will become self- supporting in its steam requirement and produce 40% of its electricity requirement. There will also be capacity to supply district heating.

Klippan Mill KLIPPAN AB and Vattenfall have signed a letter of intent to create a joint venture to build a biofuel powered boiler, to cover the mill's requirement for steam and the district heating requirement of the Klippan municipality. The plant will be supplied with a steam turbine for the mill's electricity requirement. The mill's fossil emissions are expected to fall by 40,000 tons per year, and the municipality's annual emissions are expected to fall by 8,000 tons. The mill will release emission rights for sale worth at least MSEK 7 per year. The investment totals some MSEK 120 and is expected to improve the mill's profitability by MSEK 20 per year.

Bjorn Gillberg, a member of the board of KLIPPAN AB, states: "Through the acquisition at Molndal and the project at Klippan, the group is taking a consolidated grip on the energy and environment issues. The municipality and the mill are integrated in energy supply and profitability and the environment is supported in a deserving manner."
