Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman Promotes Carolyn Pittman to Vice President of Finance, and Controller


EL SEGUNDO, Calif., March 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed Carolyn Martin Pittman vice president of finance and controller for its Integrated Systems sector. In this assignment, she will continue leading the sector's efforts to leverage common systems and shared services to achieve high quality, cost effective financial and accounting practices. She will report to Lance Newquist, the sector's vice president of business management and chief financial officer.

Prior to this promotion, Pittman served as Integrated Systems' controller, director of its Financial Service Center operations and site manager for its office in Irving, Texas.

"Carolyn Pittman is a leader of considerable skill and accomplishment in the fields of accounting and shared services," said Newquist. "Her strategic vision and leadership of the Financial Services Center have helped the sector streamline its business operations and position itself to provide best-value products and services to customers throughout Northrop Grumman. This promotion recognizes the strategic value the sector places on its underlying business practices.

Integrated Systems' Financial Service Center has received several significant awards, including "Best New Shared Services Organization for 2003," sponsored by the International Quality & Productivity Center (IQPC). In November 2003, CFO magazine and AnswerThink listed the organization as one of the "Best Workplaces for Financial Professionals." Pittman was also recognized by IQPC as runner-up for its Shared Service Leader of the Year Award 2003.

Since joining Northrop Grumman in 1995, Pittman has held a number of leadership positions including division accounting manager, sector accounting manager, sector director of common systems and process transition and sector director of accounting. She began her career in public accounting with Ernst & Young LLP in Dallas, where she held positions of increasing responsibility within the audit department over a 10-year period.

Pittman earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and data processing from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree in business administration from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas. She is a certified public accountant and a certified information systems auditor. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives International, Information Systems Audit and Control Association, and the Manufacturers Alliance Council on Administration and Shared Services and serves on the editorial board of "Shared Services News" published by the International Quality and Productivity Council Ltd.
