BNP Paribas Boosts Corporate Financing Activities for Financial Institutions in the Americas


NEW YORK, March 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- BNP Paribas (Other OTC:BNPQF) (Other OTC:BNPQY)today announced the hiring of Francois Facon to head its corporate finance activities for financial institutions in North and Latin America. Based in New York, Francois will report to Jean-Michel Doublet, Head of Corporate Finance - Americas, and to Charles Saiag, Global Head of Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions, in Paris

In this new position, Francois will be in charge of developing BNP Paribas' cross-border mergers and acquisitions activities with Latin American, European and U.S. clients in the banking, insurance, and asset management sectors.

"Francois' proven experience and in-depth knowledge of European, North and Latin American financial institutions is a perfect fit for BNP Paribas' proven record as a leading European bank doing business in North and Latin America," stated Jean-Michel Doublet.

Mr. Facon joins BNP Paribas after two years as an independent consultant advising on a broad range of topics including M&A, corporate finance and industry research. Prior to this, from 1992 to 2002, Francois worked at J.P. Morgan, where his last position was a Managing Director, in their Financial Institutions Group (FIG). In this position he was responsible for several U.S. and U.S. based subsidiaries of European FIG clients. Previously, he was Head of J.P. Morgan's Mergers & Acquisitions activities in the Mexico City office, as well as Co-Head of FIG for Latin America.
