Alfa Laval Develops the Supply of Installation Material for Fluid Handling

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Alfa Laval, a world leader in centrifugal separation, heat transfer and fluid handling, has restructured and concentrated its global manufacturing and logistics during the past years. A further step is now taken to develop the supply of installation material for fluid handling.

The Alfa Laval Group is the world's largest supplier of installation material. It is part of the offering to the beverage, dairy, food processing and biotech & pharmaceutical industries, all of which have stringent hygiene and safety requirements. The nature of the installation material business demands competitive pricing, high levels of availability and on-time delivery. Developing the supply chain is part of Alfa Laval's overall focus to secure growth opportunities in the marketplace. "The manufacturing of high volume installation material will be concentrated to our factories in China and India, whereas the lower volume items will be outsourced to local and regional manufacturers," says Goran Mathiasson, Executive Vice President and Head of Operations. "As a result of these changes we are leaving the unit in Mexico and expanding our activities in Kunshan, China." Alfa Laval has manufactured fluid handling equipment in Kunshan since 1997. Kunshan will add around 90 employees to manage the new volume, giving a grand total of 210 employees.
