Airbee Wireless Joins ZigBee Alliance

Airbee Now a Contributor to the Development of the Emerging ZigBee Standard

POTOMAC, Md., April 6, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Airbee Wireless Inc. (Pink Sheets:ABEW), an innovator of intelligent software for wireless communications, has been accepted as a participating member in the ZigBee Alliance, an international association of companies working together to enable reliable, cost-effective, low-power, and wirelessly networked monitoring and control products based on an open global standard.

Airbee's products have been designed to comply with the emerging ZigBee standard currently under development by the Alliance. Airbee's membership will allow the company to gain unlimited access to ZigBee specifications and actively contribute to the evolution of the standard. As a member, Airbee also will be eligible to participate in and chair work groups; use ZigBee Alliance collaterals; participate in ZigBee marketing and media initiatives; serve on Alliance committees; and receive early access to final, approved ZigBee specifications.

"Our membership in the Alliance will lead to countless process efficiencies and greater quality assurance -- resulting in better, lower-cost products for our end-users," said Gene Sharer, Airbee's Chief Operating Officer. "The ZigBee Alliance is, for us, a pioneering forum to shape a technology standard that will define the next exciting generation of wireless products, and we are indeed pleased to join such a distinguished group of pioneers."

The goal of the ZigBee Alliance is to provide consumers with ultimate flexibility, mobility, and ease-of-use by building wireless intelligence and capabilities into everyday devices. ZigBee technology will be embedded in a wide range of products for consumer, commercial, industrial and government applications worldwide. For the first time, companies will have a standards-based wireless platform for remote monitoring and control.

"We are delighted to welcome Airbee to the ZigBee Alliance and look forward to their contribution and commitment to making the ZigBee specification a market success," added Bob Heile, Chairman of the ZigBee Alliance.

The ZigBee Alliance was recently featured in Electronic Design's Special Report, "The ZigBee Buzz Is Growing: New Low-Power Wireless Standard Opens Powerful Possibilities."
