Media Advisory -- California Pharmacists Association Alarmed By Growing Danger of Counterfeit Drugs -- Warns Consumers


LOS ANGELES, April 8, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Alarmed by the sharp rise of counterfeit pharmaceutical cases in the United States, the California Pharmacists Association, in partnership with health care experts and consumer advocates, warns Californians about the safety risks of obtaining prescriptions from potentially dangerous sources such as the Internet and foreign countries. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports a 300 percent increase in counterfeit prescription drug cases since 2001.
