HydroFlo Introduces High Efficiency Ammonia Stripping System to Replace Packed Towers

RALEIGH, N.C., April 19, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- HydroFlo, Inc. (OTCBB:HYRF) announced today that its subsidiary, HydroFlo Water Treatment, has developed and is operating equipment for the treatment of wastewater containing high amounts of ammonia. Results of testing at this facility confirmed that the system exceeds currently available methods used by industrial clients.

The addition of the Ammonia Stripping System to the list of products that HydroFlo Water Treatment provides will allow its industrial and food processing clients a more innovative and less expensive ways to treat their wastewater. Pretreatment of industrial and municipal wastewater is the core technology that HydroFlo is able to provide, and this new application is expected to be used by a wider variety of clients as a new alternative for high efficiency treatment of wastewater.

"The initial focus of HydroFlo Water Treatment has been directed to the enormous U.S. wastewater infrastructure, including some 16,000 publicly owned wastewater treatment plants, 100,000 major pumping stations, 600,000 miles of sanitary sewers, and 200,000 miles of storm sewers," commented Dennis L. Mast, CEO of HydroFlo Inc.

"The ability to be able to provide industrial clients with beneficial treatment methods will add another large client base to the company operations, and reduce manufacturing costs," Mr. Mast added.

In December 2003, HydroFlo Water Treatment began operating equipment for ammonia removal and treatment of rendering plant condensate at a prominent pork production facility in North Carolina. During that application, the HydroFlo unit removed better than 99% of the ammonia within one minute of operation.

During the latest series of testing of the equipment for another client and different waste stream, ammonia was removed by greater than 80%. By using the HydroFlo system, the end user can avoid the typical and costly operational and maintenance costs usually associated with tower packing. The HydroFlo system generates micro-bubbles in the range of 5 microns thereby giving an enormous amount of surface area to unit volume of air induced. By creating the micro-bubbles it makes the stripping far more efficient and less costly.

The client has requested a system be designed that will accommodate the wastewater treatment at their facility in lieu of alternative ammonia removal techniques.
