Northrop Grumman Highlights Advanced Vehicle Imaging, Traffic Management Systems at ITS America's 2004 Annual Meeting & Exposition

SAN ANTONIO, April 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Next week, Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight its advanced vehicle imaging technology, regional traffic management systems, and other information technology and public safety solutions for intelligent transportation at the 2004 Intelligent Transportation Society of America's Meeting & Exposition here.

The exposition will be held April 26-29 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Northrop Grumman will be located at booth number 409.

Northrop Grumman will showcase its vehicle imaging technology with two demonstrations. The under-vehicle surveillance system, integrated with the company's license plate reader provides safety and efficiency anywhere vehicle inspection and identification are critical for operations. The second demonstration will show how a radio frequency identification system works in tandem with the company's retro-reflective license-plate reader to monitor vehicles and driver identification and access.

The company will also display its Advanced Traffic Management Solutions (ATMS) suite of software tools. The company designed and developed this software toolbox to collect and integrate data from traffic monitoring sensors and cameras to detect and verify incidents. This software also provides interfaces to radio communications systems, changeable message signs, telephone systems, and other communications tools to advise motorists of traffic conditions. The original ATMS toolbox, developed in 1993, is the foundation of the Northrop Grumman ATMS software solutions currently in use in the traffic management centers in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Louisville, Phoenix, Colorado Springs, and the lower Hudson Valley, N.Y.

As in many industries today, the worldwide web has become a powerful tool for providing real-time roadway data to the traveling public. Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its smart transportation customer web site deployments from the Advanced Regional Traffic Interactive Management and Information System program in Cincinnati, the Traffic Response and Incident Management Assisting River Cities program in Louisville, and the Hudson Valley Traveler in Westchester, N.Y. These award-winning solutions improve traffic safety and traffic management by providing the traveling public with a convenient portal to traffic information in their community.
