ATLANTA, April 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Wireless, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today the appointment of Soren Pihlman as vice president and deputy general manager of EMS Wireless, effective immediately. In this new position, Pihlman reports to Gerald Hickman, senior vice president and general manager, and will lead the division's operations and engineering efforts.

EMS Wireless also is announcing the promotion of Dave McKay, currently vice president of Engineering, to the newly created role of chief technical officer -- Wireless, where he will concentrate on future-oriented technology and the vision for EMS Wireless. He will continue to report to Hickman in this position.

Pihlman comes to EMS with a wealth of experience leading high-tech companies, most recently serving as president and COO of Digital Transmission Systems Inc., a Duluth, Georgia-based telecommunications equipment manufacturer, where he held full P&L, strategic and operating responsibility. Prior to Digital Transmission Systems, he was executive vice president and general manager of Barco, Inc., a leading manufacturer of communications and visualization equipment with headquarters in Kortrijk, Belgium. While in this position, he successfully launched the North American Communication Systems division of Barco.

Prior to joining Barco, Pihlman was president of RE America Inc., the American subsidiary of RE Technology AS, which was subsequently acquired by Barco. He holds an electrical engineering degree from the Technical University of Denmark and an MBA from the Copenhagen Business School.

McKay brings 35 years of wireless telecom expertise to EMS, and is one of the leading industry experts on the repeater and indoor RF market. He began leading engineering efforts at EMS Wireless in May 2001, following EMS's acquisition of his company, CI Wireless, Inc., a supplier of repeaters and other wireless signal distribution products. He successfully led EMS Wireless's product development and engineering efforts for all RF product lines across the division. McKay, who holds several patents in fiber optics and repeaters, earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

"Both Soren and Dave are key assets to the EMS Wireless management team," said Hickman. "Soren brings strength on both the operations and engineering side to help us effectively bring our products from the engineering stage to market. Dave's technical strengths not only encompass the in-building and repeater markets, but also to the overall telecommunications sector.
