REMINDER -- Founder of The Birds and Bees Connection to Conduct Sexual Health Education for Parents at 2004 California State PTA Convention

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif., May 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Birds and Bees Connection, an agency providing an innovative approach to sexual health education, today announces that its founder and executive director, Leslie Dixon, has been asked to speak at the upcoming 2004 California State PTA Convention.

Who: Leslie Dixon, founder and executive director of The Birds and
Bees Connection, was a school nurse for more than 20 years and
has authored many documents on the subject of health and sexual
education. After co-authoring "Sharing Healthy Adolescent and
Parenting Experiences" in 1991, Dixon developed a new model for
sexual health education through copyrighted workshops and
unique courses for parents and children based on her extensive
knowledge. Dixon lectures regularly for several schools and
organizations on topics including Family Life, Life Sciences,
Health Science and Sexual Health Education.

What: Dixon will conduct a session at the upcoming 2004 California
State PTA Convention and address PTA members, community parents
and media representatives during her presentation titled "Risky
Business: Sex and Your Pre-Teen and Teen." In this workshop,
Dixon will offer tools to help parents of pre-teens and teens
to effectively and openly communicate with them regarding
sexual issues. She will instruct parents on how to overcome
their fears about getting started with 'the talk'. Discussion
points will include startling facts, myths and truths, and
       misconceptions about sexuality.

Why: "Our greatest wish is for children to be physically and
emotionally healthy and happy. An important step on that
journey is to give them the tools they will need to be healthy
sexual human beings. Talking about sexuality might feel risky,
but not talking about it is definitely risky business,"
       according to Dixon.

When: May 4, 2004 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm PDT
       (Conference Session 2)

Where: Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center

NOTE: Media representatives, as well as the public, are invited to attend this event. Media are requested to check in at the event (no charge) and encouraged to visit the press room. Registration information for the public can be found at http://www.capta.org/sections/convention-2004/reg-info.cfm (registration fee applies).
